Psychologist

Children & adolescents
Anxiety & depression
Trauma & relationships

Shaun is a registered psychologist who specialises in the support of individuals and families who are affected by trauma.  His previous experience includes counselling across the lifespan for individuals who have experienced violence (including family violence) and other traumatic events, complex case management and running group programs for teenagers and adults covering topics including healthy relationships, anxiety and stress, building resilience and mindfulness mediation.  Shaun believes that a supportive therapeutic relationship is essential for growth and change; and that the client’s values and experience should guide the therapeutic process.  Shaun provides person-centred counselling that draws upon a number of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Cognitive-Analytic Therapy and Systemic Family Therapy.  In private practice Shaun provides support to children, adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma and neglect, relationship difficulties, persistent worries or low mood.  When working with teenagers under 16 years, Shaun likes to work systemically with families and schools to help build up a young person’s support network, and has a particular interest in social anxiety, bullying and school refusal.

Shaun holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society, and is a Medicare registered health care provider.
